About

electrophonic started out as cbmods & repairs, and before that, cbmods. As a fan of experimental music, I got into ‘circuit bending’ early on, adding pots and switches to electronic toys, cheap fx pedals & keyboards - then later - drum machines & MIDI sound modules.

Next came the learning (both formal and informal), work experience in a professional workshop and acquiring as many broken things as I could to repair - vintage synths, amps, mixers, powered speakers, digital pianos… curiosities like vintage spring reverb units, omnichords & wah pedals to name but a few. Over the years an extensive workshop has developed, with test equipment, tools, service materials, componentry, spare parts and so on.

I’m over-simplifying the process but this is kind of how it happened for me - loads of study, trial & error, experience & materials gained, methods developed - but throughout, and most importantly, an ever growing passion and commitment to the cause - keeping treasured musical electronics alive and thriving for as long as possible.
